    US Upland cotton sales at 109,300 bales as new season begins: USDA



    Net sales of Upland cotton in the US for the 2025–26 season totalled 109,300 running bales (RB), each weighing 226.8 kg (500 pounds), during the week ending July 31, 2025. The new cotton marketing year began on August 1.

    The export sales were primarily to Vietnam (53,400 RB, including reductions of 3,200 RB), Peru (20,300 RB), Mexico (7,800 RB, including reductions of 300 RB), Pakistan (7,400 RB), and Bangladesh (7,100 RB). These were partially offset by reductions for Honduras (1,500 RB), Nicaragua (900 RB), Thailand (300 RB), and China (100 RB).

    US Upland cotton net sales for the 2025–26 season reached 109,300 running bales (RB) in the week ending July 31, 2025, led by Vietnam, Peru, and Mexico, with some reductions in other markets.
    Export shipments totalled 182,300 RB, up 1 per cent year-on-year.
    Pima cotton net sales stood at 5,300 RB, with shipments up 35 per cent from last year.

    A total reduction of 17,200 RB in sales was carried over from the 2024–25 marketing year, which ended on July 31.

    Export shipments for the period ending July 31, totalling 182,300 RB, brought accumulated exports to 11,191,200 RB—up 1 per cent from the prior year’s total of 11,070,400 RB. The main destinations were Vietnam (39,600 RB), Pakistan (34,600 RB), Bangladesh (29,400 RB), Turkiye (24,100 RB), and Mexico (11,900 RB).

    Net sales of Pima cotton totalled 5,300 RB for 2025–26, primarily to China (2,300 RB), India (1,300 RB), Egypt (900 RB), Turkiye (300 RB), and Vietnam (300 RB). No sales were carried over from the 2024–25 marketing year.

    Export shipments of Pima cotton for the period ending July 31, totalling 9,000 RB, brought accumulated exports to 435,000 RB—up 35 per cent from the prior year’s total of 321,800 RB. The main destinations were India (3,000 RB), Vietnam (2,200 RB), China (1,300 RB), Egypt (1,100 RB), and Pakistan (900 RB).
