National test results on Wednesday showed a startling decline in eighth grade U.S. history scores, a trend that began nearly a decade ago and was accelerated by the pandemic.
The results come from the National Assessment of Educational Progress, an exam that is given to a national sample of eighth graders and is administered by the National Center for Education Statistics, a research arm of the U.S. Department of Education.
