    India and the Russia-led five-member Eurasian Economic Union (EaEU) may soon start talks on a free trade agreement (FTA).

    “Finalised the programme of cooperation on Russian Far East. Expect to hold early meeting of EaEU-India FTA negotiators. Will jointly organise connectivity events across land and maritime corridors,” Indian external affairs minister S Jaishankar posted on X (formerly Twitter) following his meeting with Russian counterpart Sergey Manturov in Moscow.

    India-Russia relations reflect geopolitical realities, strategic convergence and mutual benefit, Jaishankar said as he held a wide-ranging meeting with Lavrov.

    “A wide-ranging and useful meeting with FM Sergey Lavrov of Russia. As strategic partners, (we) discussed the international situation and contemporary issues,” Jaishankar said in on X.

    The Indian minister also met President Vladimir Putin.
