India sets new quality standards for geotextiles, indutech textiles

India’s Ministry of Textiles has introduced new Quality Control Orders (QCOs) aimed at improving safety and operational efficiency on construction sites. These orders set stringent standards for ropes, cordages, geotextiles, industrial textiles, and critical materials used in construction.

The QCOs target essential construction materials, including ropes and cordages, which are used for lifting, securing, and transporting goods. Geotextiles, vital for soil stabilisation and erosion control, and indutech textiles, crucial for protective clothing and safety gear, will also be held to higher standards. This move is expected to significantly reduce accidents and injuries, safeguarding the workforce and streamlining construction processes, the Ministry of Textiles said in a press release.
