    India’s Bihar mulls nurturing state into textile, leather industry hub



    India’s Bihar government plans to transform the state into a textile hub by cultivating a conducive environment through policy support and better infrastructure, Alok Ranjan Ghosh, state director of industries, said.

    Officials from the state recently visited Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu to study the textile and leather sector and gain insights.

    “By fostering a conducive environment through infrastructure, policy support, and incentives, we aim to transform Bihar into a thriving hub for textiles and generate large-scale employment opportunities,” Ghosh added.

    The delegation also visited Ranipet in Tamil Nadu to study the zero liquid discharge (ZLD) plant that treats tannery wastewater and recycles 85 per cent of that for reuse.

    The delegation met members from the Council of Leather Exports (CLE) in Chennai to discuss opportunities in the state’s leather sector.
