The Memphis Grizzlies suspended the All-Star guard Ja Morant on Sunday after he was shown holding what appeared to be a gun during an Instagram Live video over the weekend.
In a statement, the team said Morant had been suspended from all team activities while the N.B.A. reviewed the situation. The Grizzlies were eliminated from the first round of the playoffs on April 28, when they fell to the Los Angeles Lakers in six games.
This is the second suspension for Morant in the 2022-23 season. The N.B.A. suspended him for eight games in March after he was shown at a Colorado club flashing a gun on an Instagram Live video. At the time, Morant apologized and said he would “work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being.”
This is a breaking news story. It will be updated.
