Looking to fill vacancies at forward, the Wild made a trade with Tampa Bay to acquire some depth on Sunday.
The Wild picked up veteran Pat Maroon and minor leaguer Max Cajkovic from Tampa Bay in exchange for a seventh-round pick in next year’s NHL draft.
The Lightning will pay for 20% of Maroon’s contract — he is due $1 million for 2023-24 and becomes a free agent after the season.
The 6-3, 235-pound Maroon is a 12-year NHL veteran who had five goals, nine assists and a league-high 150 penalty minutes in 80 games with the Lightning last season. He won three Stanley Cups in a row — winning with St. Louis in 2019 and two more with the Lightning in 2020 and ’21.
