In the period covering April to June, the total value of goods and services exported to China stood at NZD 5.8 billion (around $3.45 billion), while imports were pegged at NZD 3.8 billion (approximately $2.26 billion).

The country has had only three quarterly trade deficits with China in the past five years.
The figures also revealed that total goods exports to China during the quarter were worth NSD 5.4 billion (about $3.21 billion), compared to imports valued at NZD 3.6 billion (around $2.14 billion).
In the last five years, New Zealand has registered only three quarterly goods trade deficits with China, underscoring the generally positive trade relationship between the two nations, said Chinese media reports quoting Stats NZ’s international trade manager Alasdair Allen.
